Have you been trying for quite some time to make progress and nothing seems to help. Have you been training for more than two to four years and you seem to have made very little change. Are you lacking motivation? that is probably why!! You need routine consistency and discipline; When you see no results, you stop trying and you lack motivation.
The underlying question here is have you been consistent with your training and your eating, your hole regime in general. The entire process as an athlete in regards to your day in and day out routine is crucial if it is not consistent and can really mess up your planned work out process.
What do I mean by consistency? There are at minimum 5 things you should be consistent with in regards to health and fitness. Your training, diet, nutrition are the three main factors when talking about fitness but what are some of the others that we never really discuss.
This is the biggest if not the most important factors in making progress at the gym. Are you fueling yourself enough for what you are putting in at the gym? Are you recovering from your workouts? Are you in a caloric deficit or surplus? Are you getting enough protein and healthy fats with your meals. This is very important to know some of these factors when implementing a training routine. That being said without the proper macro nutrient balance you will make no gains and your workouts will be wasted!!
What kind of training routines have you made for yourself, are you training with enough intensity? When you enter the gym do you do the same movements day in and day out? Do you stay in the gym for 3 hours at a time making no gains. As a natural person, the time spent in the gym should be no longer than 45 min-90min depending on your goals, after this amount of time your body releases the stress hormone called cortisol. Train smart and with enough intensity, change your workouts and keep it efficient.
Although supplementation is not always required in all cases it does play a factor when keeping up with a routine. The timetable in which we balance supplementation is important, if you want something to work well it has to be kept consistent in order to have an even blood level concentration, ensure you take all of your vitamins supps etc.. at the same time daily!!!
The consistency for sleep is vital when trying to make a maximum impact on the way you look and feel. Sometimes we neglect the sleep patterns when implementing a good routine. We underestimate how much sleep does for our bodies and we are not aware that we actually regenerate and release hormones at this precious time allowing for healing and growth.
Believe it or not stress has a huge impact on how we look feel and operate. It is not always easy when trying to create a stress free environment but if we try to eliminate reduce and control the amount of stress that we are putting into our everyday lives, it will have a huge impact on how we look and feel. If you have fitness goals in mind it will ruin them.
All of the items I have suggested above are vital in creating the proper balance and environment needed for optimal health and fitness goals. I have not gone into great detail with each topic however this is a quick guide at possible things to look at when struggling with individual needs.
